Threads Downloader DMCA Policy
How we respond to copyright complaints, and how to file one.
We respect intellectual property rights and expect our users to do the same. This page explains how to report suspected infringement and what happens next.
Our position
Threads Downloader is a general-purpose technical tool. It does not host, store, index, or distribute any Threads media. Files are resolved on demand from the original platform and streamed directly to the person who requested them.
Because nothing is stored on our servers, there is generally no file for us to remove. We nonetheless take copyright complaints seriously and will act on valid notices as described below.
Filing a takedown notice
If you are a copyright owner, or authorised to act on behalf of one, and you believe this service is being used to infringe your rights, send a written notice to our designated contact address. To be valid under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, it must include all of the following.
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner, or a person authorised to act for them.
- Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed.
- Identification of the material claimed to be infringing, with enough detail, such as the original Threads post URL, for us to locate it.
- Your name, postal address, telephone number, and email address.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the disputed use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorised to act on the owner's behalf.
What happens after we receive a notice
We review every complete notice promptly. Where the material is within our control, we will remove or disable access to it. Where it is not, which is usually the case since we host nothing, we will tell you so and, where we can, point you to the correct place to file.
Because the underlying content lives on Threads, a notice filed directly with Meta is normally the fastest route to actual removal.
Filing a counter-notice
If you believe material was removed or disabled by mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notice. It must include your signature, identification of the material and its previous location, a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the removal was a mistake, and your name, address, and telephone number.
A counter-notice must also include your consent to the jurisdiction of the appropriate court and your agreement to accept service of process from the complaining party.
Repeat infringers
We reserve the right to restrict or permanently block access to the service for any user who is the subject of repeated, valid infringement notices, and to take any other action we consider appropriate.
Misrepresentation warning
Under Section 512(f) of the DMCA, anyone who knowingly and materially misrepresents that material is infringing, or that it was removed by mistake, may be liable for damages, including costs and legal fees. Please be certain before you file.
Where to send notices
Copyright notices and counter-notices should be sent to our designated contact address, with DMCA Notice in the subject line. Notices sent through other channels may not be actioned.
