Threads Downloader Privacy Policy
What we collect, what we deliberately do not collect, and the choices you have.
Threads Downloader is built to work without an account. You paste a public Threads URL, we fetch the media, and you save it. This policy explains exactly what happens to data along the way.
Information we collect
We keep collection to the minimum a website needs in order to function and stay online.
We do not ask you to register, and we never request your Threads password, your Instagram credentials, or any other login details. Any site that asks for those to download public media should be treated with suspicion.
- The Threads post URL you submit, held in memory only for as long as it takes to resolve the media.
- Standard server request data such as IP address, browser user agent, referring page, and timestamp, written to short-lived access logs.
- Aggregate, non-identifying usage counts, for example how many downloads succeeded versus failed.
What we do not collect
This section matters more than the one above it. The following are never gathered, stored, or transmitted by this service.
- Copies of the videos, images, or audio you download — media is streamed to you and not retained on our servers.
- A history of the posts or accounts you have looked up, tied to you as a person.
- Threads, Instagram, or Meta account credentials of any kind.
- Payment or billing details, because the service is free and has no checkout.
- Precise location data, contact lists, or device file-system contents.
How we use information
The limited data described above is used for operational purposes only: resolving the media you requested, keeping the service available, diagnosing errors, preventing abuse such as automated scraping or denial-of-service traffic, and understanding aggregate demand so we can size capacity.
We do not build advertising profiles, and we do not sell, rent, or trade personal information to third parties.
Third-party services
Fetching a public post necessarily involves Meta's servers, and your download is delivered over their content-delivery network. Their handling of that request is governed by Meta's own privacy policy, not ours.
We may also use privacy-respecting infrastructure providers for hosting, caching, and abuse prevention. Such providers process request data strictly on our instructions.
Data retention
Submitted URLs are discarded as soon as the request completes. Server access logs are kept only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting, then rotated and deleted. Aggregate counters contain no personal data and may be retained indefinitely.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, the CCPA, or comparable laws — including access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, and objection.
Because we operate without accounts, we usually hold nothing that identifies you personally, which means there is often nothing to export or erase. If you believe we hold data about you, contact us and we will investigate and respond.
Children's privacy
This service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service evolves or as the law changes. The revision date at the top of this page always reflects the current version, and material changes will be highlighted on the site.
